    Can GSP sting leather coral?

I just got a toadstool leather the other day and attached it to the rocks within a reasonable distance from my GSP. In the first few days the toadstool was nice and open but it's a lot more flexible than I realized and noticed at night it would bend in different directions. On the third day of...

    Black Ich or stinging?

I have a Duncan coral, candy cane coral, mushrooms, and zoanthids. My Duncan pictured in the bottom right was closed up today, so that just makes me wonder if it is the Duncan by trying to host since he always has slept near it even before I put the Duncan in place. I also put a six line wrasse...

Is my Xenia getting to close to my torch?

My Xenia is quickly spreading in my rock to my torch. Will this become a problem? I’m worried the torch might sting the xenia, or it’ll grow over the torch. The torch is relatively new (around 2 months) and it’s still on its frag so I can still move it somewhere else. What do you guys think?

    Beginner Coral Questions

Hi, I'm doing a lot of research on corals, such as their types and needs. I've even picked out a small handful I like to prepare, I am as well picking a new lighting setup to get ready. Through my research I've found some confusing information, that I can't seem to find any answers to. When...

    Can mushroom kill shrimp?

Hi guys! So this morning I found my mushroom plug flipped over on the sand. And my normally perpetually hiding peppermint shrimp is hanging on its last breath out in the open (so it’s probably not molting). Can mushroom sting and kill the shrimp?? Or it’s just a coincidence? Thank you so much!!

    Did my torch get stung?

Got a few chalice frags and put them on a magnetic rack above the torch last night and got home from work with the torch looking like this. Is this what a coral sting may look like?

    Condy Nem a big risk?

I'm a relatively new reefer (3 months in) and saw a condy nem at my LFS that I really wanted so regrettably without much thought I bought it... it's a very large one and as you can see in the picture attached and it's taken up residence under a cave rock (been there for a week). I just...

    Acans lost the battle

I woke up to find some nasty goo connecting an Acan colony to the edge of a Lobo. I knew they were stinging each other so i cleared the mess out and moved the Acans away. It turns out that the Acans lost the battle and 6 heads were destroyed in the process. The majority of the colony still...

    Euphylia Near Rock Flower Nems

Not quite sure where this post should go, but I'm planning out my coral placement, and I've been on the fence on where to put any euphylia corals I pick up. I was wondering if they could be placed near rock flower nems, or if that would end horribly. I understand these corals are second in...

    Do Xenia's sting other corals?

Has anyone observed Xenia's stinging and injuring other corals that they were touching? I had a nice size purple Monti cap and some Xenia started growing on a rock next to it; eventually some of the Xenia were touching one edge along 1" or so of the Monti, but I paid no attention to it. The next...

Bubbletip Anenome "Stalker" Attacking a Coral

I just got my first Anenome--a bubble tip. I knew it might move a bit. I placed it away from my corals. But it moved itself near my gonipora corals. Then it moved onto a 2 inch gonipora. I moved the gonipora victim. This morning the BTA moved 8 inches during the night and has latched onto...
