Hi all, recently set up my new tank using caribsea life rock and broken up established live rock. I currently have a phosphate reading of 0.24ppm. Could phosphate be leaching from the life rock?
I’ve added around 70g of rowaphos but it doesn’t seem to be lowering.
Thanks!
I've started using RowaPhos in my reactor. I have not found a lot of info on how to use it with a reactor. Should it be packed in the canister or should it be allowed to tumble?
Greetings!
I am using filter bags for various filtration in the high flow area of my sump at the moment.
I've installed:
1. Orca's Nitra-Guard and Phospha-Guard (2000ml in total)
2. Activated Carbon (500g)
3. Oyster shells (1kg)
4. Rowaphos (50g)
As my biological demand increases, I need to...
Please share here your preferred method, when it comes to using GFO (Granular Ferric Oxide) . Do you run 24/7, intermittently or never? Leave some details about your system (age of your reef, size of your tank, type of coral, what reactor you run, what you feed, substrate or none) and reason for...
If you have an open top reactor similar to my Ultra reef reactor and want to use Rowa media then there is no need to rinse the Rowa before putting it in the reactor.
I simply put the required amount of Rowa in the reactor and put some filter mat over the top and secure with an elastic band round...
I have been dealing with high phosphate recently, I've been running a rowaphos reactor to try and bring the levels down but I just tested my fresh saltwater for phosphate and it says that the water has .08 phosphate in it. Where would this come from? My ro water is testing 0 tds and I am using...
So I am aware that this isn't the best or most efficient way to run both carbon and rowaphos but I broke one of my reactors earlier and can't get a new one quickly so I was wondering if this idea would work as a temporary solution.
I know that carbon and rowaphos ideally have different flows and...
Hi
My tank has been running for about 3months now. I am battling green hair algae at the moment.
I have tested my RO water (0TDS and 0 phosphate), my top off container water 0 phosphate). Tank water reads <0.03ppm/0ppm phosphate with salifert test kit.
I have 4 small fish in 310 litres and...
The amount to add of ROWAPHOS is pretty hard to tie down, various articles give different advice.
Does the amount added directly follow the rate of removal? ie If you add twice as much will the levels reduce twice as fast or will it just take longer to deplete?
Hi Tim and everyone :)
I am in the process of rebuilding my tank and switching to the full Triton method.
I see that the recommendation is to switch between AL99 and RowaPhos on a regular basis in order for the Rowa to remove any aluminium that has leached from the AL99.
My question is why...
Just got my Vertex 1.5L media reactor and I would like to hard plumb it to my MJ-1200 PUMP.
Wanted to see if someone could share their install on if you went with hard plumbing to the reactor or if you just used tubing to your pump. Please share pixs......

Whoops,I mean high capacity not high output...lol
Would like to get some of your thoughts on which media do you like running better in your media reactor? I have used both and i think that I get better results using the GFO High Capacity vs the Rowaphos.. I know every situation is different but...
I have removed my rowaphos reactor and started running bio pellets, .my question is if My phosphates are at .10 and nitrates are zero would I still need to do the half recommended amount of bio pellets, and move up to full in few weeks?would I have negative effect removing rowaphos, even though...
I'm looking into starting up a reactor with bio pellets for the first time and I would like to know if anybody is still running a phosphate removal media with the use of bio pellets. My phosphates are at around .07 running rowaphos. Would I be starving the bacteria in the bio pellets if I would...
