Recently got a large Powder Blue tang for my 5 foot, 160gal display. Taken out of QT and added about a week ago.
It's probably 7 inches long to the tail. Very pretty, and fat.
Right now it's the only tang in the tank, and it's taken to beating up the next-largest fish. My Magnificent Foxface...
NOT 175 gallons! It’s close to 120. Sorry, was confused there.
Hello reef-enthusiasts! I soon hope to get a six foot aquarium (INFINIA Frag 175.6) and I love tangs. I have never owned tangs but was hoping with this tank I could. I know some tangs can get as small as six inches and some can get...
This is going to be a multi-part question...
My husband went to our LFS a couple of weeks ago and brought home a powder blue and a powder brown tang.. The powder blue is a little smaller than the brown. The LFS owner had told him that she had never had any issues with the two together as long...

Hi there,
Unfortunately, my Powder Blue Tang had just passed from what I think is ich. It was in a quarantine tank at a copper therapeutic level of 2.08ppm.
Can anyone confirm this death to be from ich? Thank you.

Getting a 150 gallon aquarium set up and was curious to know if a powder blue and purple tang would be good long term in there ? Both would be starting out at around 3 inches .
Tank mates for now would be 2 ocellaris clownfish and 1 small fox face similar to them in size .
Also feel free to...
okay so, I have had ich in the past due to not having room for a quarrantine tank, and in my experience the ich is visible for a day or 2 then it drops off the fish and multiplies. Ever since I moved house a year ago ive been able to put a quarrantine tank in the spare room. so I took all my...
Hey everyone, just wanted to know whether anyone has experienced this before, and if its normal? I’m just concerned because my powder blue had similar black marks 2-3 weeks before dying of an unknown cause (which would eventually end up killing half my fish: tangs and angels). I ended up...
Hey everyone, just wanted to know whether anyone has experienced this before, and if its normal? I’m just concerned because my powder blue had similar marks 2-3 weeks before dying of an unknown cause. I’ve had the Moorish Idol for almost a week now, but his been eating well and has showed no...
Hey guys.
I’ve noticed this white splotch on my purple tang recently but did not think much of it. Recently my powder blue tang died, i’m unsure of the cause, but I remembered that the powder blue tang had a similar white splotch a week or two prior to him dying.
I’ve attached photos of both...
Hi everyone,
so here is another question in the net about powder blues in qt and possible diseases. I've probably read all of them but I would like to have you guys opinion on my personal case.
I have a Powder Blue Tang in QT since exactly 3 weeks now and it is eating very well since the...
Okay, so I know this is a dumb question. Same species of fish is difficult, especially when it comes to tangs and then the same genius of tangs is just not good. I get that but hear me out.
I want to add a powder blue tang into my 150 gallon tall tank that has plenty of rock.
Let me know if I...
I have read nothing but horror stories about PBTs and would love to hear any success stories. Against my better judgment, my daughter talked me into ordering one from Diver's Den. I will be putting it in my QT for a 6 weeks before adding it to my DT.
I have an established 180 gallon with a...
hi guys,
selling this PBT been in my tank for 9 months.. got him/her size of half dollar now about 4 inches.
firm on $30.
I'm located in Orange County.
So apparently I have a unique situation in which I added a PBT to my DT after I added my fox face Lo 4 weeks prior. I thought I had the order of adding them correct based on aggression BUT as many things in this hobby will do, I was surprised to see my fox face Lo was far more aggressive to my...
I have a 75 gallon reef tank. I purchased a powder blue tang and it was doing great the first couple of days and then stopped eating on day 3 and hid in the rocks. I had my water tested and it was perfect. This is my 2nd attempt at a tang. I heard they are hard to keep, but what is the proper...
My son in law is giving me his pbt. He tried adding a powder brown and blue and of course, major fighting so the blue is in his frag tank. I can't take it for a bit as I have 3 wrasse and 2 clowns in QT until mid April. I also wasn't going to add tangs until I added some anthias. I might have...
Hello and thanks for reading.
I have a 133 gallon set up currently and want to add a couple of tangs. I read about both these fish on live aquaria and the powder blue is rated for a minimum of 125 and the Achilles is rated for a minimum of 180 gallons. The powder blue gets larger so I was...
Multiple Tangs in one Reef? - Powder Blue Rescue and curbing tang aggression! I ended up with a powder blue tang on my doorstep needing a home, I was extremely worried about adding it with my hippo tang.. (who actually didn't care..) It was the Yellow tang that seemed to have a superiority...
Some says this is one of hard fish to keep due to prone to ick. However with proper quarantine and mature tank, it is not impossible to keep PBT for long time.
These are my two PBT kept in 220g tank, been keeping them for 4+ years.
