I didn’t do a build thread on my nano because I had most of it setup before I started regularly using this website, but I’m setting up a 65g as an upgrade so here’s what I got:
Tank: Marineland 65g w/ drilled corner overflow
Stand: I bought a VERY used kind of beat up 6ft stand from a guy on...
A couple days ago I bought some new frags for my nano, and I woke up this morning I woke up to my frogspawn in the sand. I’m realizing the spots where I put that and the hammer don’t hold the plugs very well, but they’re my only options for a low spot in the tank. Is it okay long term to put a...
I bought this acro from Jason fox. It is the kamikaze acro and I've had it about a month. I notice a little growth on it but not extensive. I am about to remove it from this base/glue to remove this algae from the rock it is on. Looks like bryopsis but I'm not positive. Either way, I don't know...
I’ve been out the hobby for several years and trying to get myself familiarized again.
I currently have a 3D background and one canister filter. The idea I have seen around is cutting holes in the background and placing the intake on the bottom right next to the heater and cutting another hole...
Usually my wellso is pretty flat and still meaty, but today it looks like a ballon. It is in lower flow than it was before, so does it need more? Thanks
Been wanting to get a trachy for a while because of its beautiful colors, however i do not know how well it would fit into my tank. I have two spots in mind it would also be nice to know large trachyphyllia get to have any idea of a good spot. The drawings are estimates that i gained by...
I had this lepto in a spot where some of the polyps were in contact with rock, and when i moved it since i saw some algae growth, likeley due to low flow, the contact areas were whitish, is the coral healthy? I see on the ridges of the coral some discoloration, does that mean something? Thanks...
As Title says I’m struggling to get enough flow towards the back corners of my tank due to it having a big center overflow box.
I turned my pumps up to get more flow but now it’s blasting my corals. I’m not sure what pumps should I get and where should I place them?
Don’t have anymore...
Hi All! I’m fairly new to the reef/fish hobby thanks to fostering my daughter’s two clown fish. I have a 32.5G Fluval Flex saltwater tank and have just started adding corals. The Hammer Coral was placed in one of the pre-drilled holes on my live rock, but I’m afraid it might be the wrong spot...
I recently got this favia and put it on the rock as a place holder, but it looks pretty unnatural. Will it grow around the rock over time or still look out of place? I don't want to put it on the sandbed because I'm scared my conch will destroy it. Thanks
At the moment, I have a FijiCube 32 AIO aquarium with mechanical/media filters in both chambers "A" and "B".
There will be 1 chamber for the media basket, the other for chaetos. So, to which chamber, "A" or "B", the chaetos should be placed? And the reasons? Thank you for the replies!
Hi everyone,
After 12 years of being absent from the hobby, I want back in :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:
We've been trying to figure out where the best spot would be without making the space look crammed.
The best we could come up with was a 6ft x 24" x 24" as shown in the image and move...
Have a couple ricordea that were near each other at the base of a rock. I had hope of them growing/splitting up the rock but I’m thinking I may need to move my orange guy. The green ricordea lifted itself up a little last night and moved closer to the orange one. Before I was having trouble...
Hey all. I have two MP40s in my Red Sea Reefer 250, have had them both on the sides of the tank and on the back glass and am wondering what other peoples opinions are on placement in this dimension tank. I mainly moved them because i felt like I was getting serious dead spots behind my aquascape...
Hi all,
I am getting ready to place an elegance coral in my tank and wondering about how to place it on my sand bed. Should I place the elegance on the sand bed or should I plan to bury the skeleton into the sand bed to prop it upwards? My sand bed is on the shallower side (1”) for where I’d...
I'm fairly certain it is, I purchased it months ago and now I can't find my paperwork.
With all the changes lately... I'm really having a hard time with these acans... but I am starting to get better! Lol ;P
So had a 15g jbj cubey for almost 4 months.
Coral added after the first week
Then second-week fish
All levels were good
Posting full tank shot. want to see if I'm in the right direction for placement and health
A few questions are...
Are my zoas too close together?
2 corals don't seem to look...
I am building my first tank right now, It is a small tank, only 29 gallons (30"-12"-18" in) I have it sitting on a 58.8lb wooden cabinet. My math says the entire thing will weigh a little over 388lbs.
The problem is that I live on the third floor of an apartment complex. The tank will be in the...
Hello fellow saltines,
I just got some new corals and when I was dipping a brittle star came off. I'm excited because I normally just get bristleworms. :-) Where do I put him in my tank? Do I put him on the sand bed or a rock. I also noticed half a brittle star. Not sure if these legs came off...
Would anyone have a decent idea on varieties of coral that can grow upside down, or glued to the underside of an aquascape?
My first thought was NPS (Non Photosynthetic) Corals, because they don't need light and I could just spot feed.
But I'm a big fan of easy corals so I don't know if NPS is...
What type of coral would be happiest/safest going on the arch of the rock?
Currently none of my coral are glued down because I wanted to make sure that they will thrive in their location before it becomes their permanent home. There are plenty of spaces on the main sections of the rock...
So I have my hammers and candy cane that I feel aren’t in the best spots based on the light and flow in those areas. I wondered where the best placement would be.
I attached some pictures of my aquarium and scape.
