I bought some live phyto from my lfs it's pretty smelly probably dieing now, wondering if it would still be ok to feed to copepod culture and tank or should it be thrown out?
A lot of people ask what we feed our systems on a regular basis and aside from the typical mysis or pellet foods we feed a variety of Phytos and Rotifers. Since we haev such great reslults with them we figured why not start culturing them and offering them to our customers.
We are happy to now...
as i start my journey into culturing live foods: phyto, pods, mysis, etc. i’d love to see some of your tanks & get ideas as to how i could go about this.
also what’s your favorite “live food” to culture?
Thanks!
Hey all. So I have 3 coco worms in my 16 gallon reef tank that seem to be doing ok, with 2 of them even adding about 1-2" to their tubes since I got them back in November, but they haven't been coming out quite as much as they usually do over the past week or so. Should I be supplementing their...

I've been growing copepods (tisbe and tigriopus) using live phytoplankton as feed (tetraselmis, nannochloropsis, and isochrysis). I've noticed that the phyto I use has a big impact on copepod yield.
I'm hoping someone, maybe @Reef Nutrition, @AlgaeBarn, or really just anyone with more...

This is my modified AIO Kent bioreef 94 litre. Running ten months now and things are going great. I add tmc all for reef, ab+ and live 8 species Phyto daily. I also dose iodine, manganese and occasionally magnesium. The fish are fed with a mixture of frozen brine and mysis shrimp and lobster...
I'm cycling with dry rock, and when that's over, I'll seed my tank with copepods in a bottle.
Should I invest in live phytoplankton to feed the copepods and make them reproduce faster, or is dead phytoplankton like EasyReefs EasyBooster gonna do just fine?
If I buy cheaper, dead, phytoplankton...

I'm looking for a starter culture of phyto. Mine crashed in the spring and i'm ready to start it back up. I usually go to amazon and grab some Mercer of Montana phyto and start producing but something is going on as the lead times are into January. I figure I can print an item or two or even do...
Hi,
Would anyone be able to identify this species? It’s motile, green, and oval shaped. I cultured it in standard salinity saltwater.
Other than that, I only have a Chinese name 扁藻.
Sorry for the poor quality microscopy.
Thanks,
Adam
I currently feed @Reef Nutrition Oyster Feast, R.O.E, Arcti Pods, and Phyto Feast. Can at least the first 3 in those list be combined into a single feed? I'm looking at setting up an auto feeder with a small fridge and this would make things much easier using a single dosing line. Also, Apex...
