Hi all,
My clownfish has started twitching its head, as you can see in the video. I had two clownfish in there, but the first one did the same thing, twitching its head as well as clamped fins, breathing hard, and not eating, so I moved it to the QT tank, adding metroplex. The clownfish does...
Hello,
I've got a starry blenny that is a few years old, and he seems all healthy. But today I just noticed this on his underside. Any thoughts? It almost seems like a huge pimple with a blackhead?
So usually I never really pay close attention to anything in my refugium, all i do is get rid of some seagrape and Chaeto that have grown to an extent where it blocks off the top view of the refugium. This time after resetting up my dosing pump, i realized this weird creature hanging on the side...
Hey everyone so I have a 91 gallon Red Sea reefer 350 g2+. Fish about a week ago seemed to break out with what I think is ich. I ruled out velvet because based on what I’m reading all the fish would be dead by now. I have one purple tang, 1 baby one spot foxface, 1 baby copperband, 2 clowns, and...
I have recently noticed a feather duster like animal living inside the “stalk” of my new Duncan coral. There looks to be a small white hole in the coral where the “feather duster”pokes out. Is this critter harmless and if so how would I go about removing it from the coral? Any input is...
My Fire Shrimp had a normal molt and for fun I looked at the old exoskeleton under my microscope. Is there a way to find out what sort of things live on a shrimp normally? Or if some of these little guys just live in the saltwater in general? Interested if anyone has good resources or knowledge...
Just the other day I bought a new toadstool mushroom coral as my second coral. At my LFS it had beautiful green polyps and was to my eyes doing well. Since I brought it home I did a simple float of the bag and then a 45-minute drip acclimation. After adding the coral to the tank the lights were...

Hello, I recently started noticing 2 small white centipede like “bugs” on the glass of my tank. They have antennaes, many “feet” like a centipede, move slowly, and are completely white. The bugs are very small but still bigger than pods. My tank has been fallow for 8 weeks now following a...
I recently got 4 green Chromis and a Yellowtail blue damsel. I put them in my invert QT for a week until I get my Fish QT ready to house life. I noticed on 3 of my green Chromis red sores that appear to be Uronema. Medicine is coming in this week but since the sores have appeared I’ve heard they...
I need help identifying these spots on my clownfish. They look like whispy gray blotches on top of the skin. Irregular shape. They have had these spots for a couple weeks. Doesn’t look like ich velvet or brook to me but I could be wrong. The video makes the spots look more circular than they...
Hi everyone, about a week ago we noticed a growth on our sailfin tang, and it has gotten bigger, and darker in color. If someone could ID this growth and inform me how to treat it, it would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hello fellow reefers, I was looking at my corals today and I noticed that there was something suspicious living inside one of my corals. I have searched all over the internet trying to figure out what they are and have not had much luck. Based on the pictures that I have attached. You’ll notice...
Can someone please help me ID the protist in these images. These were taken with a 10x objective and 25x eyepiece from a mucus scraping of a deceased clownfish that had no visible spots but had large mucus overproduction that resembled a brooklynella infection. However I have had an Angel, two...
My Powder Blue Tang developed a bump two days ago that is not like when it had ich back in April. This bump is much bigger in width and height. Additionally, it is the only bump / blemish on the fish. I ran hypo salinity at 1.009 since May. No other fish are scratching. I know my PBT is a good...
Hi fellow reefers, 2 of my torches are shrunken for the past few days. When I look closer with a magnifier I can see few moving black dots and holes on the tentacles.
Hundreds of black dots of the size of baby brine shrimp appear when I dipped the torch with coral dip.
Luckily, the torches are...
Hello! I'm new to the forum and reef tanks though I'm a life long saltwater enthusiast. I have an issue with a disease or parasite I believe - mostly with one of my percula clownfish. I've researched and tried to follow and adapt as many protocols and solutions from this forum and others to...
Just got back from LFS and got it in the tank and noticed this. If it is a disease or ich please let me know how to treat it/what product to use. Thanks!
Hi collective wisdom,
A couple of days ago I found one of my clownfish had an injury on her fin, I suspect it was an accident during feeding caused by the yellow wrasse who is a bit aggressive when eating, otherwise, there is no aggression whatsoever in the tank, I only have another clownfish...
Hey fam,
This growth showed up on Mai. She’s a 3 year old Picasso percula clown. It’s raised a few millimeters off her body, and dark black with a possible tinge of red, under the skin and above the muscle. I noticed it yesterday. No new fish or coral have been introduced since April (Today...
Tank looks totally normal and healthy and I found found these guys all over the glass and free floating.
Only difference from yesterday is that I got two new pieces of coral. My tank is only a few months old and I’ve never seen or added pods before.
Can I get a mandarin goby to help eat them?

I got too excited and neglected to notice this at my LFS. I just added him to the tank and he has a spot near his tail that looks raised and fuzzy. His tail is also injured so I’m hoping it’s just an injury.
Is it a parasite? Anything would help.
