Hi All,
Ive attached some pictures of my DIY manifold I put on my water box tank. I built this one myself but now having used it for a few months I realise it has some serious functionality/design flaws - primarily a loss of head pressure feeding through the UV and back up into the display...
Never seen this style of manifold in an aquarium. Is there a reason why this manifold with cold slip fittings off the 1/2” sides, a gate valve on the 1” entry and two 1” unions on the entry and exit would cause issues with a saltwater return line?
Hi folks!
I know all the drawbacks of manifolds - you have to tune all the outputs whenever anything changes, etc - but none of the equipment I want to run off mine is all that sensitive so I really don't think it'll be an issue. What I am wondering about though is this:
I have a pump with...
I have my current return pump manifold set up in the second picture attached, but I have noticed I lost a lot of power due to all the corners, I didn't think this though the first time well enough I guess. So I thought about changing it completely to the new design I drew out in the first image...
Hi everyone, I’m super stoked to finally be posting my 6 month long build thread this week. This is my first build thread, and it has lots of DYI, from building a light box for the main display, to conversion of a media cabinet for control purposes, and drilling my first tank. It’s been fun, and...
I put this check valve and union on my return manifold, but when I attach the return line into the tank, both unions push up right against the wall of the stand. I am worried that this will cause the pipe in the overflow to leak at the hole of the overflow box. Should I be worried or should it...
I am almost done plumbing my Red Sea 170, and I built a manifold and most of the hard line for the return line. I am not sure if I should do the rest of it, to where it connects to the return pipe, with soft tubing or if I should do it all with hard pipes. Please let me know what you would do...
Hi guys!
So here's the issue I got. I'm thinking this build through, and it just doesn't make sense to me.
I'm building a bean animal on a 150g tank. I'm running two return pumps.
One that splits and feeds the tank in two locations.
And one plumbed by itself, connected to a uv sterilizer...
I have a reef octo VarioS 4 return pump I was planning on using for my new tank, I wanted to hard plumb it into the tank and also add a manifold with 3 outputs for other equipment. Is this a good idea for this size tank and pump? The various 4 says it has a flow rate of 1056 GPH. Is that enough...
Selling my brand new DCT 8000 Jebao DCT Marine Controllable Water Pump (used only once to wet test my reefer build). Will ship in original box

Hello so I purchased a core 20 pump to replace my Vectra S2 as a return pump.
I’m going to remove the manifold thats inline my current return that feeds my reactors and have the cor pump as only a return. And my vectra I will plumb so it only feeds the reactors.
I plan to just have it...
Hi everyone coming back to the hobby after about 15yrs away; back then had a down and dirty 55gallon reef tank with all HOB equipment. Recently purchased an apartment so was finally able to come back to the hobby without the fear of having to move the tank etc. Since a lot had changed in the...
Hello Reef2Reef community,
This is my first post so please give feedback/forgive my mistakes! I will be posting a build guide in a couple months but I have started to plan out my 93 gallon cube build. I am a computer engineer so I plan to make this a very technical build but I will...

I am about to plumb the return for my 96 gallon reef. I am using a Varios 6 pump, and I plan to run a manifold off this pump in addition to the return for the tank. The return bulkheads for my tank are 3/4" X2. The Varios 6 can push 1700 GPH. 'd like to maximize my flow and have the following...
I had a custom sump that is reversed, filter socks on the right as you face the sump, because I have a dedicated sump room behind the tank. It has been running for about 14 months. I would like to replace the Sicce Syncra 4.0 with an Apex Cor-15 return pump. I also would like to add an Avast...
I have a 1" return line that reduces to 3/4" as it enters the tank. I would like to design a manifold to connect into this 1" return line so I can use my return pump to feed the manifold.
I'm thinking of using a UV sterilizer on this manifold, plus habe rim for other items as my tank...

After months of planning, I'm finally ready to start my official build thread. This will be my first aquarium, so please be patient with me as I'm completely new to this hobby.
A couple weeks ago I first joined R2R and...
Want opinions and what you guys do ? I’m on the fence for teeing off my return or just having a dedicated pump for the manifold . Space is not a issue in my sump . I’m not going to run a chiller ( where I live doesn’t get super hot and where my tank will be in my house stays very cool .
I am thinking about getting the Vectra S1 and I'm sure its big enough but I was wondering if it would be good for a 55 gallon and running two media reactors one for carbon and one for a chaeto reactor( on a manifold)
I'm designing the plumbing layout for my 75g (40g sump) tank. I'm planning on using a VarioS-6 DC return pump with a 1" return line that may or may not reduce to 3/4" with over-the-rim return line...still open on that!
I would like to use the Herbie overflow design, but was going to plumb the...
