I recently set up my new saltwater aqurium and bought some live rocks and sand. I saw this tiny green leaf thingy sticking out of one of the live rocks. Do u guys think this is the start of macro algea growing? I think the rock came with it, aleardy attachted on there.
Have a few hitchhikers, some of which I’m (oddly?) excited about, feather dusters, bristle worms, possible spaghetti worms?
But have a few more than I’m needing some ID on!
Clear translucent tubes, Neon orange spots on multiple areas of rock, and the green plant looking algae?
Also can’t...

A couple months back, I was taking a stroll through the local dollar general. Well, one of 5, because when there’s one dollar general, there’s another. While looking in the sale section, I noticed a jar, a unique one at that. It was tilted sideways and looked a little..odd? Different? Strange...
Hello everyone! I have decided to dip my hands into the saltwater side of the hobby, with a twist! Something that has always kept me from saltwater tanks was a combination of the cost, the difficulty, and especially the traditional blue lights.
Recently however, I discovered macroalgae tanks! I...
Hello,
I’m realising a gorgonian tank and macroalgae would suit in just perfect.
I haven’t found any EU shop that sells them (excluding UK due to Brexit). Coralaxy currently has only one type of macroalgae, but thats all I could find.
Can anyone help me?
Cheers

So I've been working on my 20 gallon macroalgae tank for about 2 months now, and it's gotten to the stage where I feel it's finially ready for some fish. I started researching several months ago, and already found a few species of fish that I'd like to keep. However, I've been doing more...
Greetings! I've been keeping freshwater planted tanks for a couple years now, and after much hesitation, decided to try put saltwater! I currently only have a 2 month old 20 gallon, where I plan on keeping macroalgae, some softies, and a couple small fish and inverts. I'm hoping I can apply some...
The first thing you should do is slightly open the lid of the jar that the macroalgae is in. The reason for this is to adjust the pH levels slowly. With the lid slightly open, the carbon dioxide levels and oxygen levels will become normal, and the pH will gradually rise. Next, acclimate the...
Hey guys so I’m a little ways into the diatom stage (I got lucky I got a conch and few other snails early that keep my sand clean)
But my nitrates are really higher than I’d prefer (40ppm API test kit) they get all the way up to 60 by the weekend and I’m forced to do a 20 and 40% WC in order to...
My dad just got back from florida with around 5-6 lbs of Gracilia Marco algea. If I quarantine this stuff and only use a small piece is it ok to use in my reef tanks and to pass along to friends? I’ve never taken anything from the ocean before.

Hello,
I am considering using refugium or algae scrubber as the main source of filtration (previously I was more into carbon dosing, which I am doing currently).
That would mean buying a smaller skimmer for my new tank and/or letting it run only for some hours every day.
I wonder - what are...
Looking for a pop of color for your tank or something new for your refugium? Well, this Dragon's Breath Macro Algae is perfect! This variety is red with bright orange spotting across the tips, plus you don't have to worry about it growing out of control because you can cut it back with regular...
So!
I'm one of those people that tried to keep a snowflake with fish, and while it's worked out so far.
I'm slowly starting to see her get nippy towards fish on feeding day so when I move my fish and coral to my new tank, she is going to stay in the 4pg cube until I find a suitable new tank...
My blue hypnea macro is growing out of control. I have approximately 1.5" to 2" sections for $30, including usps priority shipping. Piece won't be attached to anything, but it attaches pretty easily after a week or two. It usually appears grayish after shipping, but it should brighten to a...
Hey guys! I have been wanting to do a dedicated macro algae nano for a while now and am trying to brainstorm a different fish to house in the new tank, as I already have 2 nanos set up each with a pair of clownfish. I absolutely love blue spot jawfish, but have never kept one due to them being...
