Hey! This is my first post on this site! I have been in the hobby for around 4 years. I started with a 16gallon Biocube and recently upgraded to a 45 Gallon JBJ tank. I bought the tank used and it came with a few accessories. The following is a current list of the equipment that I have setup...
Looking for an inexpensive (<$200) power head or gyre pump that will work with an Ice Cap DC battery backup 12-24v system version 1. I have a JBJ 45 gallon AIO tank that came with these batteries. Any suggestions?
Hi everyone!
Building my first saltwater tank, plan/goal is mainly soft and LPS with a few fish. Just getting the aquascape together for the most part. Everything is on hold until the replacement stand comes. Will add JBJ was very fast to get a replacement sent out. Can't wait for the...
Hey, fellow Reefers!
In early January I decided to get my JBJ RL-45 tank back up and running. I had to shut down due to a cross-country move in 2018, and am just now getting back to it! The first thing was to inspect the tank for any cracks or damage incurred during the original cross-country...
Hi! After running various freshwater tanks through the years enjoying aquascaping and such, i decided i wanted to take on saltwater, and i thought it a good idea to join a forum more saltwater oriented for when i have questions and such to hopefully beable to gleam some of the wisdom others have...
This is my JBJ45 reef after one year and counting. Had a slow start to the build which is why there are still lots of open spots for more corals, so it's a bit of a blank canvas. Have pretty much avoided big mishaps I think from being very consistent with weekly water changes.
Running no...
Hey everyone, first time post here. Trying to decide on a skimmer for my JBJ45. I tried the tunze 9004 and just don't like it. First were the micro bubbles and couldn't get em to stop. Tried again moving to a different chamber in the filter, but hate how the cup just comes right off if touched...
This isn’t my first rodeo with saltwater. I left the hobby a few years ago. However, my love for saltwater aquariums has returned! I’m excited to begin a all new journey with new plans and goals. The hobby has grown quite a bit since my 29gal biocube In 2015. With all of the new gadgets coming...

Hey guys I'm brand new into the world of reef tanks. I am a few days in so I'll post what I've done so far... Here begins my journey.
Quick background information, I bought the JBJ RF-45 w/ matching stand from somebody selling it on offerup. Along with the tank I was given some used crushed...
Trying to decide between 2 primes or a Hydra for a JBJ45. Dimensions are 26.5" x 21" x 19".
I figure the primes will allow more possible spread, but worried about power versus the Hydra.
Hey everyone!
So when I got my JBJ 45 from a Craigslister it came with a AI Prime HD and really I feel like it's not cutting it for lighting. I get a lot of shadowing and worried any corals over soft just aren't going to get the lighting they need/want.
So I'm trying to decide on new lights...
Hey everyone!
I'm new to R2R and the saltwater world and recently picked up a JBJ 45. I've been trying to decide on what powerheads to put in it.
I know there's a lot of mixed opinions on amount of flow and such, and I'm learning along the way, but wasn't sure what the 'ideal' flow would be...
Hi everyone!
New to saltwater here and kinda learning along the way! I recently got a JBJ 45G Saltwater tank I'm setting up for the first time and wanted some help on deciding a stock list. I also could really use some advice on the order of adding once I have the tank fully cycled and ready. I...
Im shutting down my JBJ 45. Moving from US to India. Its been a good run with this tank. Learnt a lot of thing and lost a lot of things. Thank you everyone for pointing me in the right direction and making this 1 year of reefing journey a success.
My 2.0 JBJ journey will be better and more...
I have a JBJ Rimless 45 and built the stand this past weekend.
The instructions were not great, but I figured it out fairly easily. The stand comes with these four pieces that go on the bottom of the stand:
For those that have built the stand, have you used these? I am considering...
Are two Cobalt Neotherm 75W heaters enough for a JBJ 45 gallon rimless? Actual water volume will be 38-40 gallons. Ambient may get as low as 16*F less than the aquarium, but normally hover around 10*F lower. I will operate with one InkBird controller on both heaters.
BACKGROUND:
These heaters...
I should have started this build thread a long time ago on R2R. I will share a brief overview from start to where the tank is at its 6 month mark and will maintain this thread with tank updates.

Thanks to

Below is a FTS of my 45g JBJ taken as of this morning. I'm battling a bit of an algae problem atm but hopefully the urchin I'm getting later today will help out.
What do you guys think of the aquascaping thus far? I'm thinking of raising the island on the left to about twice it's current height...
