Hello everyone! I'm pretty new to the hobby and started building my first tank about a year ago.
I've been taking very slow steps forward in the hopes that I wont mess anything up :grimacing-face:, but nevertheless here is my current tank set up. It's a far cry from most of the other systems...
This is my 4 month old 45 gal cube,
It is stocked with:
2 chalk bass
Starry blenny
Midas blenny
YWG
Citron goby
Variety of hermits, conch, snails etc
(Before you ask yes the starry and midas get along well, they are best buddies)
So here we are. After owning a Red Sea Reefer 350 for 24 hours - which I broke taking him, see my other thread), and after reading all the comments about the failing Red Sea tanks, I decided to get a tank from a reputable builder and go from there. He had something in stock that fits perfectly...
Hello, this is my first reef scape coming out of freshwater. Building a nano 16 gallon that’s 33 inches long. 9 inches wide and 11 inches tall. I have a card board cutout as seen in the video that is the layout. And there is a cooler with a sharpie line for the height of the tank. Opinions...
Spent around 6 weeks cycling the tank and just added the clowns yesterday and they seem to be doing great and took to the tank almost right away. Whats else is in there is: 5 blue leg hermits; 2 trochus snails; 1 green star polyp coral. Everything seems to be going really good on day 2 so far...
Hello! Finally got most of my gear so I can start cycling the tank, and was eager to get feedback on my scape.
So, this will be a classic clown tank for my 4 year old to enjoy, we're going to eventually add either a firefish or a goby-pistol pair, whatever she prefers. We're also gonna go wild...
Okay. Got a lineup here. I’m not necessarily worried about anything but more curious than anything. All came from TBS live rock so just excited to see what came with it.
Have no idea what this is, but it seems to be growing. Was just on the sand bed as debris from the live rock but then stopped...
This is my first Reef tank. I have an AquaReady HOB-1.5 protien skimmer, 2- Nero 3 powerheads, an AI Prime 16 HD, a 200W Titanium Aquarium Heater System - WiFi and the intank chamber two media basket. I am also using filter floss.
I am about 2 weeks into cycling and have what I believe to be...
My first attempt at a reef. Overall pleased with the result so far after a year and some change. It’s funny how my taste in corals and visual lighting have changed so much since I started. I would love to change some things, but honestly just going to leave it as is and let it do its thing.
If...
Finally took the leap and purchased an aquarium that I believed was worthy of a reef tank that I’d be proud of. I purchased the Innovative Marine 100 gallon Internal Overflow Complete Reef System (link below).
It took exactly one week from purchase to arrive into my garage as it was recently...
Hello!
So many places referenced R2R as an amazing resource, so I decided to join and document my journey with my first saltwater tank! I have two successful small freshwater planted aquariums and I'm looking forward to seeing what new challenges this will bring. I first set up this tank on...
Hello (soon to be) friends...

After decades of wanting one, I have finally started a saltwater fishtank and am excited for the adventure ahead.

As a point of background...I'm an overthinker. So to prep, I watched the 52 weeks of "My First Fishtank"...
Alright, so this is the start of my journey with my father on building a display reef tank. The tank is a little less than 90 gallons but with the sump installed it may be a little more than that. The dimension are 36 x 16 x 20 = 20736 cubic inches = roughly 90 gallons.
I bought this tank used...
Looking for equipment recommendations for the IM INT 100 I just bought. Should be coming in a few days so I’m looking at what equipment people recommend. The goal is to have a mixed reef tank. Likely only with soft corals at first, with potential for hard corals if I excel at these.
Currently...
Oooookay. Here's how a total n00b ended up with 30 commercial tanks.
So. I have always wanted a saltwater tank but knew I couldn't afford one. I creeped places like this, scanned facebook marketplace for potential miraculous posts like "100g aquarium complete with all equipment, free, will...

Hey everyone!
So I’ve got an AquaOne 255 Reefsys tank to set up. We decided on a Redsea skimmer, reefmat and dc pump. It’s a pretty tight squeeze but it all fits! However since we are by passing the filter sock compartment with the reefmat we are left with an unused compartment. The local fish...
Hello, new to the reefing scene and excited to get started! I've been a freshwater planted tank aquarist but have always been drawn. to the allure of saltwater. For my first tank, I wanted it to be a budget build nano tank, as I rent, and I wanted the move to be manageable.
The tank I will be...
I’ve wanted a saltwater tank since I was a kid, and I finally made it happen just in time for my birthday.

Hello! My wife and I are almost ready to add fish to our first tank (36g). We are going to be adding fish and invertebrates this week but we aren't sure what fish/inverts play well together, how many we should can have for our tank size, or how fast we should add all the livestock. I love...
Hello everyone!
After several months in this hobby, I finally joined this forum but still as a silent reader, digging here and there for others' knowledge and experience. I gotta say that every single post and comment, even the contradictive ones, helped me much along the way as I slowly...
