I have slowly been transitioning my 90 gallon from a FOWLR to a reef aquarium and have had nearly no issues until today. I bought a green Duncan and green torch coral this morning. After going through the process of getting the coral prepped for the tank, I stuck both frag plugs down into the...
Hi! I have had this Duncan coral for almost a week and it has been doing well. I just checked my tank parameters this morning and made no adjustments today since everything was good. It was happy all day but when I just looked again it has no tendrils extended, mouth is open, and I see this...
Hey guys!
This morning when I came down my Duncan looked all weird and twisted as picture shows.
Moved those two hammers that’s above it to that location a few days ago but it should be enough distance for them not to bother the Duncan! Any thoughts?
Thanks!
I added a duncan coral to my tank yesterday and it’s my first time adding coral. Everything is good and going smoothly except it closes every time I turn on a light and thrives in total darkness. I have a 14k light that came with my tank and it doesn’t adjust brightness or anything. I...
Hello guys,
This morning I saw something of my Duncan’s while they were “closed”. I’m not sure if it’s waste or sweepers?
I was Googling but I keep finding conflicting information, some saying Duncan’s don’t have sweepers, some saying they do. I wanted to place hammer coral above and back on...
Hello all!
Excited to be diving into the salty waters again after a couple of years with no tank after a move. I'm doing a smaller scale this time around and can't wait to see what I can do in this small tank!
I have a ten-gallon all-in-one that I've added an AI Prime 16 HD light to. I removed...
I've had this one head duncan in my reef for a year now. He has started growing 4 baby heads around the perimeter about 2 months ago. I have him near some xenia, which don't sting. I also have a rhodactis and a clove polyp near him. A frogspawn is not close but is in the tank as well.
I have...
Fairy new to the hobby and recently purchased my first Duncan and I'm loving it! They are reactive, they have beautiful colors, appear to be peaceful and even are a good clownfish hoast. I'd love to hear people advice, experiences, and photos!
Duncan never fully extended since I got it at my lfs about 5 weeks ago.. today I noticed that the green skeleton is browning out and falling off. My other corals are great.. hammers are splitting, torches are extended but my Duncan isn't doing well.. would it possibly be to much light? Or not...
Recently purchased a Duncan Coral for my 10 gallon tank and today I came home to find an odd scenario. The duncan has its mouth open with a red tentacle coming from its mouth. All of the corals around it are agitated. I have owned duncans for a while now but have never seen this. Doss anybody...
So, I have this Duncan coral that I’ve had for about 5 days…. It’s been thriving and I’ve spot fed it and seen it eat. It’s been doing great but today I saw it contorting like a lot almost to the point where the one head seemed like it was going to split in two. Is this normal behavior I...
Take a look at the Duncan coral pictures to help me confirm that it’s dead. I am pretty sure it is but I want to be rational and not just kick him. Thanks.
Also, are bleached corals able to be saved to a certain point? Had 3 that didn’t like the light one day and turned all white.
I set up a new saltwater tank two months ago.
A Duncan coral was my first piece and has looked great. While I still really dig its look, after a month it has not really grown at the base, but it’s extension out of its base has increased a lot.
But...it’s tentacles used to be thin and pointed...
Hi all,
I have this Duncan for almost 6 months and was happy as can be. It even grew in size. I haven’t noticed any changes until today evening. I have 2 head missing all of the sudden without warning. I mean yesterday had all the 5 heads and today I have one completely missing an one seems...
I've had my duncan coral in my tank and it's been doing fine for more than two months, but recently it was stung by one of my nems where there used to be a little hole in it with a polyp growing out of it, but now there's this weird thing growing on it that seems spiraly and is dark red. Anyone...

Help! I was out of town for the holidays (~10 days, never again!) and came back to an angry tank. I lost a peppermint shrimp, cleaner shrimp, yellow tang and lawnmower blenny (my first & all time favorite :( ).
I brought a water sample to the local aquatic shop and they said everything was fine...
So I just watched the tidal gardens video on Duncan coral and their Duncan’s polyps were al stretched out and flowy like a torch coral. Does anyone know why mine looks like little stubs? Or how to make it look more opened up?
Hey there Reefers! I want to sell my Duncan colony! It’s about 25-30 heads and growing. I’m asking $200 for it and will entertain trades.
Located in Miami I prefer local pick up.
I have had a duncan coral in my tank since September now, and the past month or so especially it has been completely closed up. Can anyone help me figure out how to encourage it to open back up. It's one of the centerpieces in my tank so it would be awesome to have it back open again. Almost...
