I’ve been searching the web on this and see a lot of info on the do or don’t dip. I have a newish tank build that I’ve been careful to not introduce especially - bristleworms, spinonid, vermetids, spaghetti worms and detritus worms to because my first tank is filled with that and I hate it.
My...
Added the first corals to the tank today. A small frag of zoas and two mushrooms. I used a razor blade to remove them from the frag plug, then superglued them to a piece of rubble from my sump. After that I did a peroxide dip. Glad I did as it dropped these two hitchhikers from the corals.
Hello gang,
Long time listener, first time caller when is comes to asking for advice.
I have a 40g aio aquatop cube that’s been running about 8 months and I’m buying a 26g RS nano peninsula…. Well 2 actually but 1 is coming today (and I’ll do a build thread I guess).
1 tank will transfer...
Hey, everyone! I participated in the zoanthids.com live sale and my order arrived today! This is my second order of coral, my first was two toadstools which are happy in my display tank. I'm going to layout how I handled the order and I was hoping to get advice, kudos, and constructive...
A friend wants to transfer his hammer to my tank. I do not have any available dips as of right now so I was wondering if a fresh water dip would be beneficial or deadly. I am the corals last chance because it will die in my friends current tank/lighting setup.
Thanks in advance.
I put this together because I was tired of searching around for this information. Here it is in all one place for some of the more popular methods of dipping coral.
General cleansers and cleaners commonly used for eliminating parasites and bacterial infections.
Coral RX – General, 1.25ml/cup...
I was dipping a few new frags today in Bayer and a second dip in Coral RX.
I found this nudibract dead after the Bayer dip. Is there any way to ID the type?
For those that don't dip new corals, this just goes to show why you ALWAYS should. This is a restart on a crashed tank (possibly due to...
Hey guys. So I'm going to start this out by saying I'm a new reefer who's just received their first shipment of coral frags from WWC. When I received them, I floated them in my QT tank water for about 20-30 minutes. Then, I prepared to remove them from their base. This is the first mistake I...
Will dipping corals for pests eventually lead to superbugs?
Real world example: Antibiotics are currently over-used in our world, and are leading to antibiotic resistant bugs. Antibacterial soap is being banned in parts of the world due to the development of resistant strains of bacteria...
Hey all!
I posted in an earlier thread that I received some new corals. I don't have a frag rack, nor are any of these new corals on plugs. Not exactly sure what they are, but I'm going to go with DSC Reef's guesses and say one is a brownish plating monti, a confusa spongode monti, a...
Hey I've got a gonodactylus chiragra that I picked up from a poor local store that had it in terrible conditions so I decided to rescue the little guy from them, anyway it has a small tan spot on the telson that I believe to be shell rot.
I've done tons of research before and after purchasing...
hi everyone,
Normally i use coral rx and qt tank for a week to check for any leftover pests. This has been successful with zoas and palys (which is all i buy). However getting new stuff including candy cane and blastos from aqua sd. Ive heard bayers is great method for pests but i wanted ur...
I'm a new reefer. My tank has had fish and some softies for a little less than two months. I've got some hair algae going on, so I have been thinking of adding a few snails. I have some questions:
1) Do you quarantine snails before adding them to the tank?
2) Do you dip snails before adding...
Happy Thursday
Soo I got some zoas that were getting eaten by this little Dude but I got him out. I am noticing more than just him. Please help me identify what I need to do.
Thanks in advance
