Hey all,
Just recently moved my tank into my new house I decided to restructure the aquascape a bit and took out some of the rock I had in previously because it felt too cluttered. Just curious if this seems like too little rock for a 15g.

Good afternoon fellow Reefers!! I know I’m not technically new, however I consider myself a beginner in many aspects of the hobby so I would love some dumbed down, easy to follow advice.
My situation: I currently have a 10g tank with just 2 clownfish (4+ yo healthy tank). I’m moving from a...
Hey everyone! In my last thread, I discussed my used live rock. I've decided that for my new tank, I want to create a HNSA (Habitat Negative Space Aquascape). From what I understand, using dry rock seems best for this. However, I'm hesitant to cycle the tank with bottled bacteria, as I've heard...
Hey Folks question :
My upgrade tank is going to inhert:
1) Rock from my existing sump as well as quite a few rock from my existing reef tank (atleast 40 lb)
2) Alot of rock was cured and is been cycling from past 10 days and most probably another 10 days before it goes into tank
3) A dry rock...
On day 8 of Dr Tim’s fishless cycle with one and only and ammonium chloride in an IM Nuvo 15. Set up is mostly 15lbs dry rock and dry aragonite with maybe 5lbs of live rock from my 20gal so not starting with a large established bacterial population. followed the chart but only dosed the...
Hey guys, I’m currently doing fish-in cycling of 2 tanks (not by choice). I came home and my mom decided to completely clean my 65 gallon tank and set up my new 125 gallon tank. So when I came back home, the tanks were clean and she separated my angel fish in between the 2 tanks. I quickly...
My tank has been running two weeks now with live rock live sand. Yesterday I added three chromis abs was given two soft corals (sinularia & Xenia)
I’ve read that during the cycle I should keep my lights turned off….but will these two corals die if I keep the light of for a month?
Too many questions so sorry in advance¡ For a nano aquarium (<30 gallons) I’m curious if you add a Tupperware or like a Pyrex container ( # of such containers depending on the size of the aquarium) and filled them like 3/4th full with sand would that speed up the cycling process¿ If so, when one...
Hello all,
I finally set up my 180L (47.5 G) DT a few days before my clownfish finished their QT (30days of cuppramine and 1 week of Prazi. They didn't have anything but I did it just as a preventative measure) and once I put my water, dry rock, sand and filter running, I added a bottle of Fritz...
Hi everyone, wondering if I can get some information on some questions I have, please.
Tonight I set up my Fluval Evo and it's currently cycling. No skimmer but stock filtration media. (no upgrades). I have ocean direct live sand and Caribsea liferock.
I do not want to go the route of adding a...
Hey Guys, I am new to reef keeping but have been keeping freshwater for over 10 years.
8-11th of November started my tank with DR tims - temp: 29 degrees Celcius - slightly lowered salinity 1.020
On the 18th November is when is started to see Nitrites. (7 days)
Today is the 28th November and...
I bought Dr.Tims live nitrifying bacteria online and it was sent to me in just a regular box, not cooled with cool packs or anything. Is that okay to use? I have now put it in the fridge but should it have been sent in the mail with a cool pack or something?
I am going to be cycling my tank...
So I had a green hair algae outbreak, then an ammonia spike, I dosed kordon AmQuelPlus ammonia detoxifier, it kills ammonia nitrite and nitrate, and chlorine. Things started to bounce back. I lost 2 cyphastrea, and a birdsnest, during that ammonia spike, it went to 0.50ppm. my xenia has been...
ok as some know i’ve been cycling my tank and all was going well then something happened
ok so i had a shrinp in the tank for almmonia but it stopped going up for almmonia and stayed at 0.8 but with a picture it looks like 1.2
so i’m conflicted should i add the bacteria in now or should i...
So I just did a 4 day cross country move and brought all the livestock and equipment with me. I threw out all the old sand. Unfortunately most of my live rock had to go in the trailer, submerged under water in a tote. Needless to say it was less than ideal to begin with, but I had no more room...
Hey Everyone,
I recently began cycling my new Red Sea Reefer 350 with live sand, dry rock, bio spira, and did a fishless cycle using Dr. Tim's ammonia. After cycling for about a week and half, my ammonia and nitrite went to zero. I dosed the appropriate amount of ammonia nightly and the after...

I decided to totally rescape my tank. (50g)
So I purchased some “Real Reef” live rock from my LFS that’s been in their tank for about a month.
-Drove 5 minutes home without any water but rocks were still wet.
-I have some live rock from an established tank sitting in my sump about 20lbs...
Hello, I have been reading alot about cycling a reef tank. I see that people have different ways of doing it. Some people go through the cycle process and there tanks have diatoms by the end of the process, and some people go through the process and end up with coralline algae and no diatoms...
