Hey guys
I got gifted some Kenya tree coral by my local store who said that it is very weed like so shouldn’t have any issues growing it. I expressed my concern over my lighting as I only have white light and no blue and the assistant said it would be fine because I can grow macro algae etc...
Someone on another site was telling me I shouldn't feed my new corals because it stresses them out.
How true is this?
I fed them 1-2 tiny pieces of brine shrimp just to see what would happen, figuring there was no harm in it.
Can I ask what the reasoning behind this is, or better yet, why...
For my 32.5g, I have mostly LPS, hammers (wall and branching), and soft/Mushrooms and zoas. With the exception of my setosa montipora (SPS). It was originally sold as an encrusting and said it might be SPS at checkout, so I did some digging and research and we are managing! (I was scared to get...
Woke up this morning to this ….
Plan is to leave the scoly alone for now but monitor closely … probably will eject the shell sooner or later
Poor snail …
If any of you guys have similar photos post !
I’m a year into reefing and really want to know if it’s better to shut my whole canister filter completely off when feeding my corals. I just got this canister filter (CF500 UV MKII) for my 55 gallon reef tank, I’ve previously had two tidal 110’s on my tank and then recently transferred all the...
I have a mix of soft and lps corals as well as a bubble tip anenamone.
three times a week I add Red Sea Reef Energy Plus Coral Nutrition AB+ To the tank.
I also spot feed the anenamone three times a week.
is this the correct way of feeding?
I spot feed my corals Reef Roids and Zooplankton twice a week. I alternate weeks in feedings. Is this too much? I feel like broadcast feeding doesn’t really do much but maybe it’s just me.
Can anyone ID this for me thought it was a cynaria when I bought it but even with constant googling I can’t find the exact species I thought I found it was called Australian yellow but can’t find that again anywhere.
Hey guys so I had a Torch shipped to me January 5th so I've had it 3 months now. It came to me bleached it had spit up its zooxanthella in the bag unfortunately. So its been completely white for 3 months now and shows no signs of getting better, if anything its doing worse then when I first put...
I just purchased some Reef Energy ab+ and am curious about feeding coral with it. I am currently spot feeding my tank with a combination of Aqua Vitro Fuel and coral frenzy. The combination has been working good as far as I can tell but as I'm about to finish the bottle of fuel I wanted to try...
With the growing popularity in the reefing hobby of Amino Acids such as Red Sea’s Reef Energy AB+, I am curious if it makes NPS corals such as Sun Corals and certain Gorgonians, that have been historically considered difficult to keep because of feeding requirements, a bit more accessible to...
Hey guys I’ve been feeding my kryptonute candy canes daily. It’s a smal frag with two heads. Today they expelled the pellets I gave them. Am I just feeding them too much? They’re doing great, even healing from a small wound they suffered.
Hi everyone, hope you’re all doing well. I have a few questions regarding the proper way to feed an acan colony. I tried feeding my acans some reef roids but they didn’t seem to like it, they secreted some mucus. I have an acan colony that’s about 20-30 heads, I try to feed them about 3 times a...
I am new to the reefing hobby and recently picked up a torch from my LFS. it is currently in my 10 gallon IM nuvo fusion that have been cycling for about 2 months. While I was at my LFS I picked up some reef-roids. How often should I feed my coral with them?
Just won $100 in coral food.
Currently only have a few zoas, 2 favia, cyphastrea, and a plate coral. I've been making sure the zoas get some left over mysis when I'm done feeding the fish, but I haven't really been feeding the other corals.
Are there any extra precautions I should take when...
As per the subject, how long do you leave the wavemakers off to let all your tank inhabitants munch their food?
I understand if you broadcast, you may say zero downtime but when you target feed, you may say 10 minutes or 1 hour perhaps.
So what's your wavemaker downtime during corals and fish...
So I introduced two new acan frags and a blasto to my tank this week. They’ve all been dipped and quarintined as best as is possible in my situation. The one frag opened up yesterday and was looking great so today I decided to feed it some reef roids using a tube, dropping small amounts at a...
Hey guys and girls of reef2reef, todays question involves the always daunting, but absolutely stunning.... Non-Photosynthetic Coral! Weather it's an LPS such as Tubastrea "Sun coral" and Dendrophyllia, Softies such as Dendronepthya, or Gorgonians, they all have to eat, and all have their own...
We all know folks have their own recipe when it comes to feeding their corals (be that softies, LPS, SPS or NPS).
What I'm interested in finding out is what do you use to feed your corals? If you can choose only max 3, what will you go for?
Use the vote button please.
