I have an idea. I've always wanted a drop off aquarium but getting them pre made these days aren't too common unless its custom. I love the idea of playing around with height in an aquascape. There's an idea in my head that I would like fleshed out. I was thinking about using an acrylic box and...
Currently in the process of building a 29 gal set up and here’s the current Aquascape I came up with and a plan for coral placement. Would love any feedback before I go ahead and fill her up with water!!
Hey guys, I am looking for some feedback and advice for my aquascape set up. I am new to the reef community and this is going to be my first ever saltwater tank. I want to make sure that I have space for the fish to swim and to have coral grow. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
I recently purchased a second-hand 260g reef with a few fish, coral and live rock. During the move, the tank developed a leak. The tank is now resealed and curing, but it's been a long process and the fish and coral died within a few days after the move.
I spent a whole weekend scrubbing hair...
I built a large new rock structure to add into my tank. Is it ok to just rinse with RO and put it straight into the system or should I let soak? There are two additional large structures already in the tank.
Is it alternatively safe to spray it down with hose water and let dry for a couple of days?
Hi team,
Happy almost new year! I’m thinking of going with live rock for a brand new set up and was wondering what the best glue is to use for putting it all together underwater? Any particularly good or bad experiences?
As always - thanks in advance!
So I’m not good at aquascaping and I’ll own that. What I have works meaning it’s allowing flow and fish safe habitats. However I want to add more coral and just feel like the current scaping won’t allow me too much creativity for that. Like there is to much empty space.
To add to that I have...
New reefer here.
I purchased the nano plus 2 nano arch. I have not purchased the tank yet. Figured I would build it backwards. Equipment first, tank last.
I am set on a 10 gal nano cube from either jbj, Waterbox, or innovative marine. I know sizes are slightly different, however went with...
Hi all,
Just started making my first aquascape with Caribsea Life Rock mixed shapes and base rocks. The tank I'm going to use is a redsea reefer 200L G2 (cube).
The sandbed will be 1 inch. Im mixing Caribsea ARAG-ALIVE special grade with their OceanDirect sand.
Any thoughts on this? I'm...
Hi everyone, I have an aquarium with live rock in it that came with some awesome sponges on it!
Right now The rocks are sitting in the empty tank as it cycles.
What I’ve been wondering, is how the heck am I supposed to scape it with sponges!! I can’t take the rocks out of the water since I’m...
I’m a brand new aquarist & for my first tank I’m starting with a 16 Gallon BioCube.
I’m from Indiana and have been
diving once a year in the Bahamas for 30 years. Finally, I can bring the ocean to me! I realize that salt is harder, but since I’m limited to just 1 tank, I decided to jump into...
Hi! This my introduction post. Keegan at my local LFS said that this is the place to learn about reefing, so I joined! He has a small farm and has become somewhat of a mentor, which eases my worries a bit.
I’m a brand new aquarist & for my first tank I’m starting with a 16 Gallon BioCube. My...
We are finally getting to the point of aquascaping this 65 gallon tank! However, we are completely stumped on how we want to set it up so we are open to any and all ideas, tips and tricks.
Lets be real, this your chance to brag about how great your tank is! Let's see some of those reef setup!
I am setting up a 20 gal Innovative Marine Fusion and was hoping to get some opinions on my aqua scape. The inside of the blue tape is the dimensions of the tank. Thoughts? Thank you.
Been a while since I’ve posted but I’m back and ready for my first scape! I was watching that BRS video on building their NSA and they started talking about the glue accelerator, which they referred to as “just acetone”.
Now, my question is this — does anyone know if I can use acetone based...
As the title says I have this 15 year old Cat Eye Bubble that I really need to frag it’s outgrown it’s space in the tank and encroaching on other corals. I’m hoping to get some insight on how to do this, best way, less stressful way on the coral any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated...
The long wait is over! After (un)patiently waiting for my cycle to complete, these are the first additions to my 55 gallon tank!
1 False percula clownfish
1 ricordea mushroom
5 blue leg hermit crabs
3 red leg hermit crabs
2 astraea snails
5 nassarius snails
5 margarita snails
1 bumblebee snail...
My neighbor is moving, and turns out he is also in the hobby and has been for decades. He gave me for free 100 lbs. of bleached Solomon Island live rock he isn't taking with him. Stuff is super nice.
I have a 50 gallon AIO and have only been in the hobby for a year. Is it worth it re-aqua...
I want to redo my aquascape but every time I situate it differently, I am just not happy with how it looks. Can anyone give me some advice or ideas? Thank you!
Howdy fellow Reefers!
Finally started to work on my tank!
Played around with some D-D Dry Rock and some Stax Rock (from Two Little Fishies)
I also used some acrylic rods for my arch structure with a mixture of watery glue and sand alongside Aquaforest Stonefix to put it all together.
Going...
I just got myself a RS Reefer 250. I'm not too sure but I think have shy of 70 lbs of rock and a good amount of coral frags for a mixed reef. It's an upgrade from my 20g I've had for a year now... so what I did is transfer my stuff from my 20 into this 250. Not sure if my aquascape or lack of it...
