Hi, as you can see in the photo, there are 2 orange anemones that have appeared in my tank, i noticed one about 4 months ago but it appears to have moved and now another one has appeared, my concerns is if its Aiptasia or another pest. Any ideas and what i can do to remove if needed.
What's your favorite natural aiptasia eradication method?!
I had one peppermint shrimp in a 75 gallon that disappeared and shortly after the aiptasia started to reappear.
I'm thinking of trying a Copperband but have heard too many unsuccessful stories
And I don't find the filefish to be the...
I will be moving long distance (Nebraska to Texas) next month. I have a 35gal reef tank. 2 clowns, a bengai cardinal, starfish, snails and some rather large coral on my live rock.
I also have Aiptasia on my live rock again! I had purchased a pile of nudies and everything cleared up for about 6-9...
Hi, all,
Several months ago, I set up an experiment to deal with elevated nutrients in DT, added an HOB filled with chaeto and a light. The experiment doesn’t seem to have worked; phosphates still ungodly high but stable and as a bonus, I found the algae had been home to aiptasia (yay). I...
Black Aiptasia? Hi everyone. I found this on an empty shell stuck in a leather I purchased last weekend then another today on the base of another leathers rock, despite scrubbing with a toothbrush for ages. Is it aiptasia, it had a nem
type foot, didn't retract easily when I rolled the shell...
As the title suggests, over the span of 5 months or so my tank has been covered by aiptasia, so much so that ive even noticed some have interesting flecks of colours in them on top of the horrid brown colour that they are. Anyways I think one of the reasons for the massive outbreak is I feed...
Hello fellow reefers,
I need help with a identifying if this hairy growth on my acropora since day 1 and I ignored and now at the base which seems like algae.
The zoa has something different, has had these since day 1 (removed with tweezers) and grew back. Not sure if hydroids or aiptasia...
I noticed these guys the other day on a piece of rock. They sort of look like GSP but they don’t have the purple crust like GSP and they are more white with a very light hint of green on the tips of the tentacles I do have GSP in my tank and they are sort of similar to the smaller ones I can...
So I let my 65 Gallon Reef go... aiptasia took over and killed nearly all my coral except some GSP. But my fish are doing well and tonight I began rehabilitating my reef.
I started with cleaning everything spot clean -my sump, skimmer, glass...etc. I got a large rubbermaid garbage can on...
Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone could identify this species. It’s currently 1-2 mm in size and was found in saltwater taken from the Indian river for analytical testing.
It appears to be eating (and stinging) artemia, and is growing quickly in 20% saltwater
Thank you!
Hello! About a week ago I took over a 4 year established biocube 29g. Wondering if this is aptasia or xenia.
Water parameters:
Temp: 77F
Salinity: 1.026
pH: 8.2
Nitrites: 0
Ammonia: 0
Nitrates: 40 (they were 160 before a 50% water change and i’m still working on getting it down)
Phosphates: 4…...

In great working order and a great stress reliever. It's time to pass the baton to someone else on this site. I will need to check the shipping destination to make sure it's not $50 or something crazy.
Thanks,

This is probably going to sound abit odd to some people, but I’ve been breeding berghina nudibranchs for about a year now. As such I have a small tank that I use to grow aptasia on live rock to feed to them. The tank is 30l, full of live rock, has a cheap Chinese light and filter on it and gets...
I had a friend that is getting a new tank, so had to get rid of a lot of his corals.
Some of his zoas have feather dusters, which I’ve heard are healthy for a mature tank.
These pink cat eyes are the only corals that have these. They’ve been in my tank for about a week and have now popped up...
I need some help! I have a 40 gallon established mixed reef tank with two clowns and a moyers leopard wrasse and a skunk cleaner shrimp. I’m having issues with red bubble algae and green hair algae covering everything. I’m also having an issue with aiptasia everywhere. What sort of fish could...
My corals have been recently not opening up as big as they did before. Nothing really changed. My GSP has been suffering since sponges are growing on it, but nothing happened to other corals.
I tried manually removing the sponges but they were soft and wouldn’t come off so i was afraid to hurt...
... but seriously i'm not sure of what kind of Anemone i'm looking at here... any ideas? Seems to be more active at night than day. It does fully retract. It's currently on the underside of one of my florida aquacultured live rocks.
Hello all!
I currently have two feather dusters in a very simple fishless qt tank for 40 days now and they are doing great! However, I just noticed this aiptasia looking thing growing on one of the feather dusters and I'm not really sure what it is and how to treat it so that I can add them in...
Good morning, I’ve noticed a few pieces of LR I put into my sump/fuge have aiptasia growing on them, if I can see it I assume I have some in display too… lots of rock, lots of crevices… hard to confirm/deny
There are at least 3-4 good sized stalks and some babies in sump.
I want to buy some...
This is aiptaisa right? It has little curly tentacles with bubble looking segments. Hard to get a good photo of it. Gonna try and attach a video of it! (: tank is empty aside from the live rock for cycling!

I Need Help with my aiptasia problem, i’m tired of this, maybe someone have a some idea…
i have a 130gal mixed reef, and a lot of aiptasias everywhere.
I start with the Aiptasia-X - just mutiply more.
I introduced a some peppermint shrimp (3) and after a 2 days they disappeared
So i try...
I don’t have a picture at the moment, however my question is whether aiptasia can ever emanate from a white tube structure similar in every way to a vermitid tube, but white.
I recently put a new coral in QT and I identified 2 aiptasia’s, however, there was another similar thing emanating from...
Hello,
Just a quick question. I added 3 Berghias to my 100 gallon tank about 2 months ago, and just within the last week I suddenly noticed all of my aiptasia is gone. I had a TON. But now I don't even see baby aiptasia.
I have noticed at night time, they'll go on the glass. Should I be...
